Environmental Education Program Providers

There are many agencies and organizations that provide environmental education curricula and lesson plans. The Office of Environmental Education and Public Affairs' online resource database also has a wealth of curriculum materials and lesson plans. Select "Educational Materials and Curricula" on the resource type and enter a keyword or keywords to narrow the search.

Department of Environmental Quality

The Division of Coastal Management has 19 free lesson plans for Pre-K-12th grade focused on marine ecology.

The Division of Air Quality has free classroom curriculum for K-12th grade aligned with the NC essential standards. The program helps individuals understand how voluntary actions can reduce air pollution and improve health.

The Division of Water Resources provides a North Carolina specific educational curriculum focused on water quality for the state's 8th grade and high school level Earth/Environmental Science teachers and educators to use with their students.

The Albemarle-Pamlico National Estuary Partnership shares links to lesson plans from eight different resources across the state including NC State Parks.

The Division of Energy, Mineral and Land Resources, in partnership with the United States Geological Survey, provides an online collection of lessons for K-12th grades and undergraduate education.
