Pine warbler"I have found a plethora of workshop opportunities for myself through the NC-EE List. I have also learned about neat Web sites and opportunities for my students that I wouldn't otherwise have known about. This listserv is invaluable to me." --Rebeccah Haines, Teacher at Morehead Middle School, Morehead City, NC.

The Office of Environmental Education hosts and moderates the NC-EE email listserv to provide a forum for the exchange of environmental education ideas, questions, solutions and opportunities in North Carolina.

NC-EE has more than 1400 members from a wide diversity of professional and academic fields. Anyone with an interest in environmental education in North Carolina is welcome to join.

or read these FAQs if you need more information

What happens when I become a member?

You will receive emails from other NC-EE members about environmental education workshops, resources, grants, jobs, and more. You can also post opportunities and information related to environmental education in North Carolina. The Office of Environmental Education also uses NC-EE to keep members up-to-date on the latest news and resources, and members automatically receive North Carolina Environmental Education News Tips once a month.

How many emails will I get?

NC-EE averages about 70 emails a month (that's about 2-3 a day). Traffic depends on the time of year--for example, the months around Earth Day and EE Week are busier than other months. If that is too excessive for you or you are often away from your email, there is a digest option that bundles several posts into periodic emails. Members can also put periodic stops on emails.

Will I get spam, off-topic discussions, or frivolous emails?

NO. NC-EE is closely moderated by the Office of Environmental Education. All members are required to follow the guidelines below. Due to the large number of members, NC-EE is not used as a message or discussion board.

Posts from the listserv will always have [NC-EE] in the subject line.

Is it hard to unsubscribe?

No. Every NC-EE email post has a link at the bottom that takes you to the unsubscribe page. You can also email Marty.Wiggins "at" ncmail.net if you have any problems.

How to Subscribe

Go to the NC-EE Mail List User Interface:
http://lists.ncmail.net/mailman/listinfo/nc-ee

Follow the directions under “Subscribing to NC-EE.”
The page will direct you to choose a password or will generate one for you. You will only need this password to unsubscribe or do other interface options—it can be requested from the interface page if you misplace it.

Choose your Daily Digest option.
If you check “yes,” you will be sent a periodic digest listing recent posts as they accumulate. You may want to choose this option if you are unable to check email regularly or are just using the listserv to keep up with current environmental education trends. If you are an existing member and want to switch to the daily digest option, click here.

NC-EE USAGE GUIDELINES:

These Guidelines are also posted on the NC-EE Subscription page, and are emailed to each new member.

Due to the large membership, we must follow these guidelines in order to keep the list open for individual posts.

* Please keep posts relevant to environmental education programs and opportunities in North Carolina.

* NC-EE is not a "message board"- avoid having discussions via the listserv and contact individuals directly if you need more information.

* Do not "CC" or click "Reply All" when you respond to an individual post's question or request. The list has a large number of members from a diversity of fields, so don't assume that the entire list will be interested in the post response.

* Please do not post messages that address environmental issue advocacy
(calls for rallies, protests, petitions, fundraisers, etc.).

* Do not use NC-EE to advertise products, commercial services, or fundraising events.

* NC-EE has more than 1400 members--we encourage posts, but please be discerning and do not "over post."

*Please do not forward emails or posts
from other listservs without editing the content and clearly identifying the purpose of the email.

*Do not "CC" large numbers of emails along with NC-EE posts--they may be rejected as a spam attempt.

Please report misuse of the listserv or listserv problems to
Marty.Wiggins "at" ncmail.net. Do not admonish or criticize individual posts on NC-EE. Contact Marty Wiggins or another staff member if you have concerns about a post.
