Native

Deciduous to Evergreen Perennial, Zone and height vary with variety.

A popular bee plant.  Also popular with hummingbirds.  Use for seasonal accent in the perennial border.  Since most have low growing foliage and tall flowering spikes, it’s best to plant them near the front of the border, in front of other plants that will provide a compatible background.

Full Sun to Partial Sun.  Afternoon shade is recommended.  Well amended, well drained soil.  Penstemons will tolerate drought, but it will affect performance.  Divide as needed in the Spring.
