The Office of Environmental Education created the EE Garden in front of the Archdale Building to:
- demonstrate sustainable North Carolina native plant species that attract butterflies, birds, and other wildlife to cities
- serve as a training site for environmental educators to teach students about the relationship between plants and wildlife
- encourage state employees to use the area to further their achievement of Environmental Education Certification and as a green space to work or relax, and
- provide a model garden for other workplaces and homes to emulate.
